Product Description

Produced at Aofukang's ISO9001:2015‑certified facility in Cixi, the AFK-50B is a 16L Mineral Activated Carbon Water Purifier that runs without electricity or fixed plumbing. Tap water enters the upper chamber and moves under gravity through seven treatment layers—ceramic, granular activated carbon, mineral balls, quartz sand, ion‑exchange resin, and Maifan stone—before collecting in a 16‑litre lower tank. The housing is food‑grade AS and PP. Each unit is individually boxed; six units make up a master carton.

Material Safety & Housing

Both the upper and lower chambers are moulded from AS resin, a material chosen for its transparency and resistance to staining. The lid and internal filter housings are made from PP. These polymers meet food‑contact standards and contain no BPA or phthalates.

Because the body is clear, users can see the water level and the condition of the filter media without opening the unit. The flat base keeps the purifier steady on a countertop, and the lid rests securely in place without clips or screw threads.

Seven-Layer Filtration Breakdown

16L Mineral Activated Carbon Water Purifier filter assembly

Water passes through seven distinct media stages. Each layer targets a specific category of contaminant or performs a conditioning function:

  • Ceramic hemisphere – traps sand, rust, and visible particles. This layer can be removed and scrubbed clean.
  • Granular activated carbon – reduces residual chlorine, organic compounds, and odours that affect taste.
  • Mineral balls (red/white) – release calcium, magnesium, and other trace elements into the filtered water.
  • Quartz sand – screens out finer suspended solids and provides structural support for the media bed.
  • Ion‑exchange resin – softens water by exchanging calcium and magnesium ions, reducing temporary hardness.
  • Maifan stone – a natural mineral rock that adjusts pH toward mildly alkaline and contributes additional minerals.
  • Post‑carbon polishing – a final activated carbon layer to capture any remaining taste or odour before water enters the lower reservoir.

Mineralisation & Taste Adjustment

Unlike simple carbon filters that only remove contaminants, the AFK-50B adds minerals back into the water. The mineral balls and Maifan stone gradually dissolve, enriching the output with small amounts of calcium and magnesium. This produces a softer mouthfeel compared to demineralised RO water and reduces the flat taste associated with distilled water.

The ion‑exchange resin also helps to control kettle scale without adding sodium, making the water suitable for tea and coffee brewing. The final taste is described by users as smooth, with none of the chlorine or metallic notes found in untreated tap water.

Daily Use & Filter Replacement

To operate, fill the upper chamber with tap water. Gravity pulls the water through the media stack; the lower reservoir fills without any pumping or waiting. The 16‑litre capacity means a full lower tank can serve a family for a day or more, reducing the frequency of refills compared to smaller models.

The ceramic hemisphere should be brushed clean every two to four weeks, or when water flow slows. The activated carbon, mineral media, and Maifan stone have a recommended replacement interval of 3–6 months, depending on local water quality and daily consumption. Replacement media packs are available from Aofukang. When not in use for several days, empty the chambers and allow them to air‑dry.

Certifications & Manufacturing

Aofukang’s Cixi facility produces the AFK-50B under ISO9001:2015‑documented procedures. Each production batch undergoes a material conformity check and a visual inspection of the moulded parts. The certificates below are held by the factory and can be supplied for import or retail compliance purposes.

CE Certification
CB Certification
ISO9001 Certification
RoHS Certification
CCC Certification
Patents and Trademarks

The factory occupies 7,153 m², operates 6 assembly lines, and turns out over 300,000 units per year. In‑house injection moulding and tooling provide direct quality control over the AS and PP housing parts. Custom private‑label packaging and branding are supported with a minimum order quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the advantage of the 16‑litre capacity over the 14‑litre version?

A: The larger lower reservoir holds enough filtered water for a bigger family or a small office, meaning the upper chamber needs refilling less often. The physical footprint is almost the same; the extra volume comes from a slightly taller body.

Q: Do the mineral balls need to be replaced even if the water tastes fine?

A: Yes. The mineral balls gradually dissolve as they release ions. After 3–6 months their mineral content is largely depleted, so they stop contributing to taste and alkalinity even if the water does not taste noticeably different. Regular replacement keeps the mineralisation function working.

Q: Can I wash the filter chambers in a dishwasher?

A: No. The AS body and PP components should be hand‑washed with mild dish soap and lukewarm water. High dishwasher temperatures can warp the plastic. The ceramic hemisphere can be scrubbed under running water with a soft brush.

Q: How can I tell when the ion‑exchange resin is exhausted?

A: The most obvious sign is an increase in kettle or glass scaling. If white deposits appear more quickly than before, the resin has likely lost its softening capacity and should be replaced along with the other media in the scheduled 3–6 month interval.
